I started out designing products people hold in their hands. I ended up architecting the lines that build products people's lives depend on. Both taught me the same thing: good engineering is invisible until it isn't there.

My story

From consumer electronics to medtech lines.

I spent the first stretch of my career designing the things you'd recognise on a shelf: noise-cancelling headphones and earphones for Sony, an electromechanical relay socket for Schneider Electric, a miniature photoelectric sensor for IFM. Every one of those products had to survive contact with real manufacturing lines, real tolerances, and real cost targets — not just look good in a render.

At Rohde & Schwarz I moved into test & measurement hardware and contributed to a filed patent during my tenure there. That's where I started thinking less about individual parts and more about the systems that build them.

That shift took me into automation system architecture — designing and integrating the manufacturing lines, vision systems, and fixtures that produce medical devices for ResMed, Philips, Insulet, Intuitive Surgical, Illumina, and Roche. These are products where a tolerance stack-up isn't a cosmetic problem — it's a patient-safety one.

Today I lead a team of 8 as an Automation System Architecture Manager, and I take on independent product design and automation consulting alongside that — from a founder's first sketch through to a validated manufacturing line. Based in Singapore, working across Southeast Asia.

MDR-NC7, MDR-NC40, MDR-NWNC33B and MDR-NC100D noise-cancelling headphones and earphones, plus earphone and MP4 player lines — full mechanical design and design-for-manufacture, in-house.
